Hurray For The Riff Raff, Indeed

8 August 2016 Blog Of My Heart Featured

The first time I caught a listen to Hurray For the Riff Raff was in 2013 as I blasted down I-93 on what I was sure was my final exit from the Boston Metro area.  Halfway listening to NPR, I was mesmerized by singer/songwriter/guitarist Alynda Lee Segarra who seem to both blend and break multiple musical genres all at once.  I didn’t catch her band or name until almost three years when I saw her at a recent performance at the Crocodile in Seattle, Washington and I’m so glad I did.

Hailing from Brooklyn, NY Hurray For The Riff Raff is essentially Ms. Segarra. Now in residence in New Orleans, the Cajun influences dot her music like icing on a cake that is far too beautiful to eat.  Some may call her folk or jazz, maybe- but with a hell of a lot of soul, fire and something from someplace deep and mysterious.

We will be spinning her newest release as we automate ourselves until we are live.
